Warmer weather is finally on the way and it’s time to stretch those legs and enjoy the great outdoors. What better way to embrace the changing seasons than by participating in a summer clean-up with co-workers, neighbors and friends? Day of Action provides the perfect chance for your company to get out and give back to our community.
What is Day of Action?
Day of Action is United Way’s annual community-wide volunteer mobilization effort. This year’s project will take place the afternoon of Wednesday, June 19 at Dover Park in Partnership with Yellowstone River Parks Association.
This experience plants seeds for importance of volunteerism, mental health and the great outdoors. We are looking to mobilize as many volunteers as possible this year, and we need your help! There are many projects that are in need of volunteers: trail restoration, removing invasive trees, rock spreading around benches and shelter areas, old fencing removal, new fencing installation, landscaping and more! Please consider volunteering to help and spread the word to your friends. Help us build a better place to live, work and play!
How Does a Company Participate?
- Register your company team on YouCanVolunteer.org between May 22nd and June 14th
- Select a team leader for your team
- Send out how to sign up to other team members
- Make sure all sign up requirements are completed
- Have team leader participate in brief orientation from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. on June 13th. We will provide a link to the recorded orientation after June 13th.
- Receive and distribute pertinent information to other team members

What is Dover Park?
John H Dover Memorial Park is a signature natural-area park in Billings Heights. One section of the park is currently open to the public. John H. Dover was the original homesteader on the property and grandfather of Jim Sindelar. Jim’s vision was that the land be used for park space rather than become another subdivision. Two additional sections, one purchased from the Jim and Virginia Sindelar family and the other a donation from the same, are currently in the planning stages for future public access and use. Projects will take place in all three areas of the park.
What is Yellowstone River Parks Association?
Founded in 1991, Yellowstone River Parks Association (YRPA) is a volunteer-driven non-profit that supports access and use along the Yellowstone River. Through both partnership with public land agencies and land ownership, YRPA helps to maintain more than 2,000 acres of park land in Yellowstone County. We build and maintain trails, manage invasive weeds, build benches, bridges, picnic shelters, and sometimes buildings, and work with both public and private organizational partners.
